Certificates are printed on colored designer parchment (golden for
Members; ivory for Supplementals; Associates according to degree of
status) in a three-pass process. First, they are watermarked with an
antique map of Massachusetts Bay, then illustrated with the Society
seal and period graphics, and finally etched with the Member's or Associate's
personalized text acknowledging contribution of research and (where
applicable) affirming a qualifying lineage, signed by the Society President,
dated, and stamped with a unique enrollment number.
Member certificates are awarded automatically upon receipt of a new
Member's enrollment fee, or of an existing Member's supplemental enrollment
fee, or upon approval of an Ivory Associateship. For Gold and Silver
Associates ordering certificates, we ask a small fee for preparation
and mailing. Fees are waived for Ivory Associates.
Other Winthrop Society regalia are also available to Annual and Life
Members (in good standing), at a nominal cost. We are always designing and developing new insignia
to offer our Members as well.
The rosette has been especially and uniquely crafted by the Nation's premier artisans, Dexter Rosettes, to the specifications of the Winthrop Society. It measures slightly less than one-half inch (11mm) in diameter, and constructed of finest silk ribbon of the Society colors. (Click on the thumbnail for a magnified graphic.)
The insignia is a miniature medallion stamped by CityPride Ltd. Fine Arts & Design, specialty jewelers with a long-standing reputation among the hereditary society community. The medallion measures approximately three-fourths of an inch (20mm) in diameter, is crafted of solid brass with an antique finish, and suspended from a silk drape ribbon of the Society colors. (Click on the thumbnail for a magnified graphic.)
The colors of the insignia and rosette are pine-green and gold; the green representing the Pine Tree Banner of old Massachusetts Bay and the forested wilderness in which our Puritan forebears settled, and struck through with gold for the fire of their inspired and courageous spirits.
